5 Changes Worth Making for Your Spring Skin-Care Routine

There’s a point every year—usually right around now—when your beauty routine quietly stops working the way it used to.

Nothing is dramatically wrong, but your skin feels different. Moisturizers are too heavy. Your multi-layered makeup routine doesn’t sit the same. Products you’ve relied on suddenly feel…off.

This is the seasonal shift into warmer weather—and it tends to show up in subtle but frustrating ways. Here are the small adjustments that make the biggest difference:

1. Makeup behaves differently in heat
Foundation that looked smooth a few weeks ago can start to separate, slide off, or fade by midday.

Try this instead: Use less product overall—and focus more on skin prep than coverage.

2. SPF doesn’t always sit the same
In warmer weather, sunscreen can pill, shift, or feel heavier than expected.

Try this instead: Apply in thinner layers and give each step time to absorb—about 30 seconds to a minute.

3. Your skin can feel oily and dehydrated
This is one of the most common (and confusing) seasonal changes. What’s happening: Heat and sun exposure can dehydrate skin, which can trigger more oil production.

Try this instead: Focus on hydration first—not just oil control.

4. Powder isn’t always the fix
Adding more powder can emphasize texture instead of solving shine.

Try this instead: Blot first. Then lightly set only where needed.

5. Glow just needs direction
Radiance still looks great—it just needs to be intentional.

Try this instead: Keep glow on high points (cheekbones, temples), not everywhere.

Now that you have a perfectly balanced warm-weather routine, why not test it at this month’s featured Allure Escape: a 3-Night all-inclusive stay for two at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort in St. Maarten.
