Hi friend,

Do you like surprises? I always waver between loving them but also wanting to know everything beforehand. Who can relate?

At Apothékary, we’re introducing the element of surprise this month with a special edition fukubukuro (we know, it’s a mouthful!).

Fukubukuro (pronounced fu-ku-BOO-kuh-ru) translates into “lucky bag” and is a beloved Japanese tradition dating back to the mid-1800s—around the end of the Edo era and beginning of the Meiji era (when modernization really took off in Japan).

To this day, merchants curate their fukubukuro with coveted mystery goods and offer them at an incredible value for customers. A symbol of good fortune, fukubukuro are typically a New Year’s tradition in Japan and denote good luck for the year ahead.

What makes our Apothékary fukubukuro different? We decided to offer them in the early days of spring, a season when nature is in its own cycle of rebirth and renewal. Full of some of our favorite herbal formulas, we can’t wait for you to unwrap a new favorite product, better routine, or new perspective on plant medicine—or perhaps yourself!

I don’t want to say too much before I ruin the surprise, but we know you’ll love your fukubukuro. It’s now available exclusively on apothekary.com for $115 ($150 value).

I’m so excited to share this joyful Japanese tradition with you—and in this case, I suppose I do love the element of surprise.

I'm cheering you on!
