Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well! I’d like to take a moment to share an important update about the Base Model line. After much consideration over the past few years, I’ve decided to discontinue this model for the foreseeable future. For those who have loved and trusted this shoe, I understand this might come as a surprise.

The Daily Trainer 2 will embody its spirit:

In its place, I’m eager to soon introduce an exciting evolution: the 2025 Daily Trainer 2 (ETA release around March of 2025). This upcoming model incorporates the unique, much-loved “featherweight ground feel” of the Base Model while embracing modern advancements in materials, performance, and durability. It’s everything I’ve envisioned for a running and cross-training hybrid shoe that stays true to its roots while pushing boundaries.

I’ll share more details about the Daily Trainer 2 around the new year, but here’s what I can tell you for now: It will be a true harmony of the two concepts and the pinnacle of what I have been shooting for over the past half-decade for a well-rounded Daily Trainer. This shoe will reflect my ongoing commitment to designing "tools" that meet the highest standards of quality and performance - shoes that become staples in your running rotation.

My biggest critique - Durability:

As the world continues to churn endless consumer products, I am inspired by the highest quality products that last longer. The Base Model is simply not durable enough to meet this minimum standard as humanity is forced to take an inventory of what maters most.

My goal is that when you buy an Atreyu product, it is intended to compete with the highest durability standards to reduce spoilage and maximize the life cycle of each material.

The shoe that built Atreyu:

The Base Model has been a cornerstone of Atreyu since our launch in 2020. It will always hold a special place in Atreyu’s story as one of the boldest - and perhaps most misunderstood - shoes within today's running culture. While some viewed it as an “budget” trainer, I always intended it as a performance tool to supplement a runners rotation. Communicating this design intention has been one of my greatest challenges, and I’ve learned so much from the experience - and from your invaluable feedback.

Additional note on the Base Trail:

In an upcoming note, I will also share with you the plans for the Base Trail line. While I am not sunsetting the future of Atreyu Trail, I am immediately focusing acutely on our road line as I begin to rebuild the standards of the rotation. Piece by piece. It might take a few years before I have the resources to give the trail space the attention it deserves in order to be successful and competitive, but I will remain optimistic that we have a future in trail running.

Onward towards excellence:

These decisions are quite challenging, because I also have a personal/emotional connection with each model. Nevertheless, as a solo operator of a small business (that just so happens to be a worthy contender among the big shoe giants), I am determined to deliver results within my capacity. Most importantly, I want to deliver excellence on each endeavor, pivot when needed, and continue to learn.

As I look ahead to the 2025 lineup, I’m more motivated than ever to create products that meet and exceed your expectations. Thank you for your continued trust and support as we continue onward together.
