Hey again, Folks!

Do you remember the first time you laced up a pair of running shoes with serious intention? What did you want running to give you? What did you want to prove to yourself? What did you want to discover?

I often think about this, and I call it the "original ask of running."

What I wanted was simple, but not easy: I asked for a solution to my busy mind. I asked for a healthy way to reduce my anxiety.

On my first run, I laced up a pair of shoes on a Saturday night for a cruise around the lake in my hometown in Louisiana. That run changed everything...

My theory is this: Our original ask is nothing short of profound. Running is an activity that many of us have designed around something truly special or life-changing. I would imagine that very few of us run for superficial reasons. We're trying to achieve something epic.

I often feel like I owe running something. It has given me so much. It provided me solace when I needed it most, and I find myself now on an extended journey of finding new ways to both give and take from this beautiful practice. A lot of that is personal, and a lot of it is rooted in community. Until then, I will keep driving as hard as I can with our Atreyu mission, as this brand is a reflection of that first run around the lake.

As you head into your weekend, I wish you an epic run. Perhaps reflect on why you began your journey. Ultimately, I hope you achieve what you're running towards.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue to do what I love to do,

_michael
