DIGITAL BUILDER

Before breaking ground, preconstruction is the metaphorical foundation for a successful project. As the famous Aristotle quote goes, “Well begun is half done,” when you stay on top of project planning and design starting in preconstruction, you lay the groundwork for the direction for the remaining work. Sure, sounds easy enough in theory but executing a well-run preconstruction machine in reality is another story. So, let's explore a few strategies and tools you can use to rev up for a strong start and, ultimately, a successful close.

A master class in construction takeoffs.
From preconstruction through closeout, data is at the heart of improving performance.

Better preconstruction, higher margins

Preconstruction allows you to simulate the job before executing it. Think of it as a digital rehearsal process; you can “build” the structure before physically breaking ground, spot issues before they become problems that need fixing, and improve your margins. The question is, what steps should you take during preconstruction to optimize the rest of the project? And what does building strength at the start look like?

A guide to bidding software

Construction bidding is a great act of orchestration. Whether you’re a subcontractor trying to win more work or a GC looking for the right team to execute your project, keeping all the balls in the air throughout the bidding process is an immense effort of collaboration. Thankfully, construction bidding software has been helping contractors streamline the process and improve efficiency in recent years. But with so many options available today, where to start?

Estimating Master Class

Teams in charge of preconstruction and estimation often spend their valuable time hunting down information or correcting mistakes rather than devoting their energy towards tasks that truly matter—such as analyzing costs and improving the bottom line. If you’re an estimator or preconstruction manager grappling with data silos, inefficiencies, and lack of productivity during takeoff, check out our construction Estimating Master Class.
