Hi ,

It’s Kim, CEO of CurlMix.

First, I owe you a sincere apology.

We are late shipping some Protect CurlMix orders, and I know that’s frustrating, especially after you showed up for us with your hard-earned money.

I’m truly sorry for the delay.

Here’s where we are right now:

Out of 20,000 Protect CurlMix orders, about 8,000 will not ship until February 15th.

We originally promised January 15th.

• 2,000 orders were delayed because a supplier failed to deliver fragrance for one product. Even though the other 9 items were ready, we couldn’t ship incomplete kits. Those orders will begin shipping this weekend.

• The remaining 6,000 orders are delayed because we overestimated how quickly we could restart production after the holidays. The truth is, running a small-batch manufacturing factory is hard, complex work.

We’re managing over 1,000 raw materials, packaging, and ingredients by hand.

And when one thing is late, everything slows down.

Everything else ships quickly, within 2 days, it's just the 10 for $10s that are pre-orders.

The next bundle ships April 15th and we improved the selection based on your feedback.

None of this changes how grateful I am for you.

Ninety days ago, CurlMix was on the brink of sudden death.

Ten years of work. Jobs. Community. Gone.

And you stepped in and protected us.

For the last decade, I’ve tried to build CurlMix like other brands, perfect photos, polished packaging, curated stories.

It always felt so unnatural to me.

Making everything look perfect.

I'd much rather send you a plain text email written by me instead of a templated graphic of an AI model.

Somewhere along the way, I lost the courage to build the brand I actually dreamed of.

Just me, talking directly to CurlMixers and educating us about our hair via LIVE streams.

All I ever wanted was to help people with textured hair feel beautiful wearing it naturally, and to do it transparently.

Transparent ingredients.

Transparent hiring from the community.

That’s why we went on Shark Tank.

That’s why we transparently crowdfunded.

That’s why we launched Protect CurlMix.

And now, that’s why we’re launching BUILD CurlMix.

This year, I’m building in public.

I’m sharing the real numbers.

The real mistakes.

The real fixes.

You’ll see how we’re upgrading our production so we can go from making 600 units per batch to 10,000 units per batch.

One day we never have to rely on pre-orders like this again.

We can’t stop promoting CurlMix while we fix this, we still have responsibilities but please know your order is coming.

I can promise honesty, accountability, and a better-built CurlMix on the other side.

You can expect weekly updates from me, written by me, not ChatGPT lol.

I'll be posting on social media and regularly going LIVE on Facebook.

Follow along to see how we are BUILDing CurlMix.

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your trust.

Thank you for helping us build something that lasts.

With grit + gratitude,

Kim
CEO & Co-Founder, CurlMix
