MOBILE

Both teams were razor focused on getting DashPay released on testnet and Mainnet. On iOS, the CoinJoin implementation was rigorously tested on testnet and mainnet, revealing some important fixes that are required before releasing it. We were able to solve a crucial issue that was blocking us from building a stable version of the DashPay app; this involved support from the Android and Platform teams.

The Android team finished most of the development related to username requests and voting. Contested usernames and non-contested usernames were both successfully created on testnet and mainnet. Contested usernames were successfully voted on and blocked on testnet and were requested on mainnet and the voting results will be evaluated in October.

As always, if you are a Dash-accepting merchant, anywhere in the world, please submit the details of your location here and we will have you added to the Explore Dash inventory. Any merchant who gets two customers to tweet about a Dash purchase at your location will get a shout-out in a Dash Wallet message and on our social media. Just email our support team with the details of your post.

The search continues for organizations who want to build on Platform and for strategic partners who can help drive adoption. A more defined roadmap for Platform and Core was published through the end of the year on the website.

CORE TEAM UPDATES

The Core team continued working toward a v22.0 release throughout September. We backported numerous network updates as part of the ongoing BIP324 network encryption implementation. Other tasks included improving the stability and performance of functional tests, accelerating devnet startup time by activating features sooner, and introducing statsd updates for better logging to statistics servers.

Some of our efforts focused on supporting Platform. This included writing a DIP defining how Core could support basic proof-of-service for Platform evonodes and investigating the potential for single-node quorums for local test environments. During the Platform rollout, we assisted with key migration on some dashmate nodes so Platform could activate successfully.

Our development consisted of over 60 pull requests in September, including bug fixes, optimizations, and general code improvements. Bitcoin backports continued with completion at 96% for v0.21, 90% for v22.0, 49% for v23.0, 30% for v24.0, and 13% for v25.0.

MARKETING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

This past month we presented at HiveFest in Split, Croatia, on Dash Evolution. Travel and accommodation was provided by Hive and did not cost Dash anything. We are exploring a number of strategic partnerships as a result of this.

The full presentation can be found here:

Also as a result, Dash is once again posting to the Hive blockchain, particularly on the InLeo interface:

We are continuing to work on our upcoming Brave advertisement campaign, which has been delayed due to development delays in the Dash wallets. We will report on the campaign as soon as it goes live. Finally, we appeared on several X spaces for Web3 Global and Xcohost:

We were also quoted in an article by Finbold about Satoshi Nakamoto's identity:

DASH SUPPORT

This month at the support desk has felt like a bit of déjà vu, reminding me of when we first launched operations in Venezuela during their economic crisis, many years ago. While not quite at the same intensity, we've seen a noticeable uptick in tickets from Spanish-speaking countries, which has really put our language skills to good use.

Back then, people were using Dash to trade for basic necessities, but now we're seeing a different trend. The majority of recent tickets from these regions have centered around online gambling, with users trading Dash (Digital Cash) for local currency. A recurring question is: "How can I exchange Dash locally?" While it's straightforward to recommend global exchanges like Kraken or Coinbase, it's more challenging to address peer-to-peer exchanges on a local level. To help, we've begun researching alternative solutions, like Binance P2P (using USDT as an intermediary), which is starting to become part of our workflow for users seeking local options. This has been as much a learning experience for our support team as it has been for new Dash users trying to cash out their winnings.

In other news, we've also received inquiries about recent updates to our apps, particularly the Dash Android app. Some changes to the UI led to complaints about "extra steps" in sending and receiving funds. It turns out, one of our releases accidentally removed a button from the mobile home screen, which caused the confusion. This incident highlights how sensitive users are to even minor UI changes. Several users wrote in about it, which serves as a reminder to us to be extra cautious as we continue making updates, especially with the upcoming Evolution release. The support desk is tightly integrated with our development teams, and this issue will be fixed in an upcoming release.

Overall, this month gave us a chance to reflect on past experiences as we handled the increase in tickets from Latin America, while also looking ahead as we prepare for new software features and releases. As the first point of contact for users and the Core team, the support desk often feels the initial shifts in user sentiment. We expect the coming months to be just as eventful as we move toward the end of the year.
