Hi ,

I'm writing to ask if it's okay to send you texts from time to time.

Some real talk. I resisted SMS marketing for a long time. I actually find it kind of irritating when companies text me.

But here's the deal. I'm just going to be totally honest. I've been trying really hard over the last few months to shift our marketing focus away from Meta and stop paying into a system that is problematic, to say the least. While we still post regularly on our socials, I've scaled our paid advertising wayyyy down. I personally am really trying to break my own dependence on the scroll. I pop in a couple times a day (kind of like checking email) to see what's going on, but know I miss a lot. And I'm okay with it. And I know that many of you are trying to do the same, and I fully support that!

But the thing is, it's really hard to generate revenue for an online business when you don't have website traffic. And for better or worse, a really effective way to reach people who might want to check out your business is to pay money to their attention when they're online. Meta figured this out a long time ago. It feels good to be trying to break free from that, but it's scary, because we have to find other ways to communicate with our people so we can keep the lights on and keep making rad dog gear.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that getting an occasional text from a small business I love would actually be kind nice, sort of like hearing from a friend? Considering that my personal email inbox is an out of control wasteland of unopened messages (yep I'm one of those), getting a quick reminder that there's a sale or a new product or something else cool going on via text might be nice. We promise to be really careful to text only every once in a while for important stuff. And maybe once in a while something fun, silly, or sentimental.

Anyway, maybe it's not your thing, and I totally get that. But if you wouldn't mind a friendly check in from us every once in a while, please feel free to sign up!

I'm also open to hearing your thoughts about any of this - so feel free to reply and share! Either way, we love you and are so glad you're here - I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Liz
