Catalog & DPA News for Experts

Hey Catalogers,

"Scaling is hard - I can't just double my ad spend and expect the same results."

Yeah, duh.

Those guru's on IG with rented lambos want you to think that scaling an ad account is as easy as increasing your ad spend. But if it it was that simple, we'd all be billionaires by now.

However, under the hood, most brands have a real scaling strategy hidden in plain sight.

Brands obsess over customer acquisition while overlooking the growth engine they already have: their product catalog.

Here's what we discovered when we looked at how the best brands actually scale...

They don't just acquire more customers. They expand their catalogs.

The scaling secret hiding in plain sight

With very rare exceptions, most successful brands grow by adding SKUs, not just chasing new audiences.

Ridge started with wallets, then they moved into luggage, bags, and accessories.

DadGang Co. started with hats, then added shirts—doubling their catalog size.

The bigger your catalog becomes, the more successful catalog ads become.

It's a self-reinforcing growth engine most brands completely ignore.

Here's the founder of Dad Gang, if you don't take our word for it.

Why more SKUs = better DPA performance

Think about it from the perspective of Meta's algorithm:

More SKUs = more data points to optimize against
More products = more audience matching opportunities
More categories = more personalization possibilities

When you have 50 SKUs, Meta has limited options. When you have 500 SKUs, the algorithm becomes incredibly powerful at finding the perfect product for each person.

The math is simple. Larger catalogs give Meta's AI exactly what it craves—variety, data, and optimization opportunities.

Plus, catalog ads become your secret weapon for inventory management.

Need to clear seasonal stock? Create a dedicated product set. Excess inventory? Move it without discounting your entire brand.

Here's where it gets even more powerful: Catalog ads with proper design and branding amplify this entire cycle.

Instead of plain product images, every new SKU you add gets the same thumb-stopping creative treatment—making your expanded catalog perform like premium creative at scale.

The self-reinforcing cycle

Better catalog ads → higher ROAS → more expansion budget → bigger catalog → even better performance

When you need to clear inventory? Surgical precision instead of site-wide sales that hurt margins.

Think catalog-first.

Your catalog isn't just inventory. It's your scaling engine.

The brands winning at catalog ads aren't just running better campaigns. They're building bigger, smarter catalogs that make Meta's algorithm incredibly effective.

The next time you think about scaling, think SKUs first.
