Hi ,

This month marks 5 years since we started Finn.

Crazy… I know.

As I reflect on the journey, I realized many of the lessons that shaped me as a founder came from the other Finn in my life: my dog!

Here are 5 things he’s taught me that continue to guide both me and this company:

Unconditional Love & Loyalty
No matter what kind of day I’m having, Finn greets me like it’s the best moment of his life. That unconditional bond is what inspires me every day to give it my all. And it’s the same bond we’re working hard to build with you, our customers — one based on trust and care that never fades.

The Importance of Diet
I’ll never forget the moment I realized how poor the quality of most dog food really is. Changing Finn’s diet was the easy part, but it also forced me to look in the mirror (literally). I realized I’d been treating my health like an afterthought, and it was catching up with me. That shift changed everything: the way I eat, the way I live, and ultimately the way I built this company.

Resilience
Finn can trip, tumble, or get scolded, and just two minutes later, he’s back to being the best boy ever. That resilience is something I’ve leaned into through every challenge as a founder — mistakes and setbacks will 100% happen, but what matters is how you respond. Watching him ‘shake it off’ has taught me to focus less on perfection and more on persistence.

The Power of Routine
Dogs thrive on routine. Walks at the same time, dinner at the same time – it keeps them happy and grounded. Building this company has been no different: real progress has come from showing up every day, doing the work, and trusting the process. Those steady rhythms – not the flashy moments – are what create lasting change.

Sometimes You Just Gotta Let Loose!
Finn’s zoomies are pure joy — no inhibitions, no plan, just plain ol’ fun. He’s taught me that sometimes, in life and in business, you just need to let go and enjoy the ride. Because at the end of the day, joy and play are what give everything else its meaning.

These lessons remind me of the ‘why’ behind what we do — building a healthier, happier life for dogs everywhere.

And none of it would be possible without you, our community of dog lovers who have been integral to this journey.

Here’s to the next 5 years of wagging tails and healthy pups!

With gratitude,

Randall
