Lighting the Path to Quantum Revolution: Navigating the Potential of Photonic Quantum Computing

In the relentless pursuit of faster and more potent computing capabilities, scientists and engineers have embarked on an intriguing journey into the realm of quantum mechanics. Quantum computing, a revolutionary technology founded on the principles of quantum mechanics, holds the promise of transforming diverse fields, including materials science, drug discovery, finance, and artificial intelligence. Among the diverse approaches within this burgeoning field, photonic quantum...

Quantum Dots

Quantum dots are semiconductor nanocrystals that have optical and electrical properties. Quantum dots emit different light colors when we expose them to UV light. These tiny crystals have various applications in medicine, photovoltaics, displays, solar cells, etc.The color of the emitted light depends on the size of the quantum dots. When we illuminate quantum dots with UV light, an electron present in a quantum dot gets excited. After some time, deexcitation takes place, and...

Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing: Navigating the Delicate Dance of Information

Quantum computing has captivated the minds of scientists and technologists alike, promising to solve problems intractable for even the mightiest classical machines. However, this potential comes with a caveat: the fragility of quantum information. Unlike their binary counterparts, qubits, the building blocks of quantum computers, are susceptible to errors arising from environmental interactions and hardware imperfections. These errors, if left unchecked, can quickly accumulate...

Synergic quantum generative machine learning

We introduce a new approach towards generative quantum machine learning significantly reducing the number of hyperparameters and report on a proof-of-principle experiment demonstrating our approach. Our proposal depends on collaboration between the generators and discriminator, thus, we call it quantum synergic generative learning. We present numerical evidence that the synergic approach, in some cases, compares favorably to recently proposed quantum generative adversarial...

51% Attack via Difficulty Increase with a Small Quantum Miner

We present a strategy for a single quantum miner with relatively low hashing power, with the same ramifications as a 51% attack. Bitcoin nodes consider the chain with the highest cumulative proof-of-work to be the valid chain. A quantum miner can manipulate the block timestamps to multiply the difficulty by c. The fork-choice rule counts every block with increased difficulty with weight c. By using Grover's algorithm, it is only O(c√) harder for the quantum miner to mine such...

Navigating the Quantum Divide(s)

This article explores the possible divides resulting from the introduction of emerging quantum technologies (QT) to society. It provides the multidirectional impacts of QT on science, technology, geopolitics, and societal structures. We aim to challenge the idea of a singular "quantum divide" by presenting a more comprehensive perspective. To complement the existing literature on the quantum divide, we propose four distinct divides that could result from the emergence of QT....
