I was barely twenty years old when this story began. I’ve grown up with Sézane, and Sézane has grown up with me. From the beginning, I've written it alongside you, without a fixed plan, but never without heart. In bursts of late-night creativity and spontaneous decisions, in learning by doing. Learning how to create a piece of clothing, a beautiful image, a team, a company. Trying, doubting, starting again, evolving. Year after year, skill after skill, a little like building a house.

First came the foundations: vintage, and everything those treasures taught me about design that stands the test of time. Then came the essentials and the seasonal pieces that, together, came to define Sézane.

This autumn, after more than twenty years of learning, I wanted to add a handful of new silhouettes that I felt were missing and were calling to me as my own style evolved. New volumes, new shapes, designed to live alongside the pieces at the heart of our collections.

I love the idea that we can explore new sides of ourselves while still cherishing what feels familiar. We’ve imagined four major seasonal collections, unfolding through twelve chapters that we share, reinterpret and bring to life in weekly edits. Always with the desire to show just how many ways a single piece can be styled, how many lives it can live.

Over the past few weeks, I have seen a lot of discussion about Sézane. Some of it made me smile; some of it made me reflect. More than anything, it reminded me how fortunate we are that you care enough to notice, question and respond to what we do. That attention has always been part of this story, and it continues to shape the way we move forward.

I believe in nuance. In the idea that nothing has to be one thing or another, that everything can find its place, coexist and respond to one another. That we can celebrate what was there yesterday and still be curious about what comes tomorrow. That we can reach for an embroidered blouse as much as a coat with graphic lines, a print as much as a monochrome silhouette, softness as much as structure.

All of these expressions reflect the women we are, our different desires and the breadth of a single identity: free, intuitive and alive, for each woman to make her own. Sézane was born from this freedom, and protecting it means everything to me.

Below, you’ll find my answers to a few of the questions you have sent us; thank you for your curiosity, your trust, and the diversity of your perspectives. They mean a great deal to us, and they make us want to do better every day.

I am infinitely grateful to my teams, our partners, and to all of you who, whether Sézane has been part of your life for many years or only a few days, have made a place for us in it.

With love,

Morgane Sézalory,
Founder of Sézane

Our seasonal pieces and essentials remain the heart of Sézane. They make up nearly 90% of what we offer. Our aim has always been to design the most beautiful pieces we can at the fairest possible price, while improving season after season. I've always wanted Sézane to reflect this desire: for people to make our pieces their own in a thousand different ways, whatever their age or style.

Sézane was built without intermediaries, a large store network, or sales. That's what lets us best protect the relationship between a piece's value and its price. Creations that call for costlier materials, more complex construction, or particular craftsmanship naturally carry a price that reflects that. For everything else, despite the steady rise in raw material costs in recent years, we do everything we can to keep any price increases as minimal as possible. I care deeply about this.

That is the beauty of an essential: it remains with us, season after season. This autumn, the new silhouettes have been given the spotlight, but the signature pieces you love are still at the core of our collections. At Sézane, every new chapter is written alongside the ones that came before.

More than 84% of our materials are natural, 10% more than the previous year. Synthetic materials are still sometimes essential for durability, stretch, lightness, structure, or a particular drape. Like natural materials, they vary in quality, from the simple to the exceptional. What matters most is choosing the right material for each piece, keeping in mind the demand for longevity, quality, feel and drape.

Since 2015, our Appartements have created a space in which we can meet you in person. They're designed as living spaces, places to share so much more than fashion.

To browse our full collections and enjoy a fast, seamless experience, our App remains the best way to shop. But to try things on, touch, wander, get advice, or discover the artists we love... nothing beats walking through our doors.

No, unfortunately, it wasn't available beyond our five-month residency. For the past seven years, Sézane has taken shape in the offices just above 117 rue du Bac. And so, when the opportunity arose to bring part of the ground floor to life for a few months, I didn’t hesitate.

This new space brings together twenty years of Sézane’s history, from our first vintage selections to everything we've created since: Sézane, Petit Sézane, Les Composantes, and Octobre Éditions, which you'll find just across the street.

117 rue du Bac also offers the opportunity to dedicate an exhibition to a living legend of photography: James Barnor, whose work we've had the honour of exhibiting since the very first Sézane Appartement. James is 97. He has photographed Ghana, London, independence movements, youth, elegance, and possibility. His work reminds us that an image can shift a gaze, and that a gaze can sometimes shift the world.

I hope I never stop asking myself this question.
I know what we want to cultivate and protect: our freedom, our creativity, our love of beautiful things, and this very particular bond we share with you. As for the rest, I hope we'll keep daring to search, try, learn, and take the occasional detour... To surprise you, and to surprise myself too :)
