Hello Everyone,

📣 Major announcement! WizeHive (including its brands WeHero and Bright Funds) has joined the Submittable family. And personally, I couldn’t be more excited.

Both companies share a common mission to build amazing software that helps our customers make a positive impact in their communities. By joining forces we are able to better support social impact programs across the corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors.

Together, we support over 6000 foundations, corporations, and public entities, who last year alone collectively ran more than 35,000 programs and gave out more than $1.6 billion to nonprofit organizations and individuals.

By bringing the best of each brand together into a cohesive solution we’re poised to create the tools of the future faster than ever before. And as we look to what lies ahead, our mission remains the same: to accelerate yours. We’re dedicated to helping you be successful in your social impact work. Thank you for joining us for the next chapter!

Learn more in this blog from our CEO Thor Culverhouse. And, here’s our press release.

In other news… While taking a nice break from travel this summer I had the chance to read through Blackbaud’s annual 2024 CSR Industry Review. Here are a few highlights:

Employees who participate in both volunteering and individual giving programs have higher engagement than those who participate in just one (13% vs. 10%)
Companies with 1000 or fewer employees have much higher program participation than larger companies: an average volunteer rate of 41% vs. 13%, and an average giving rate of 23% vs. 11%. And those employees' average annual donation amount is more than 2x that of larger companies.
Credit card donations are offered by companies nearly twice as often as payroll giving.

And if you didn’t see the headlines last week, inflation finally fell below 3% for the first time since 2021. This is great news for nonprofits, who received higher dollar totals last year, but had less spending power based on high inflation.

The summer respite is nearly over. Next month I’ll be at the annual ACCP conference, at a TAGLocal event, and at the first-ever Google.org Impact Summit. I hope to see you there!

Impact Audio is back from summer break. Our newest episode features John Brothers on effective nonprofit boards. Trust John Brothers to turn what sounds like a dry topic on the surface into one of the most interesting conversations I’ve had in a while on nonprofits, democracy, and Alexis de Tocqueville. Listen here.

We gathered five real-word examples of trust-based philanthropy in action to address a few common misconceptions about trust-based principles. If you’ve heard a lot about trust-based philanthropy but are unsure how to get started, these five organizations provide a great blueprint to emulate. Read the article here.

One last reminder to read our Submittable + Wizehive blog post from our CEO, Thor Culverhouse, if you haven’t yet.

For Your Review

Axios reported on a new poll from a Gallup-Bentley University study that indicates fewer Americans want companies to take a stance on politics. It’s an interesting juxtaposition to all the data indicating Gen Z workers expect their employers to reflect their own values.

In addition to the Submittable and Wizehive news, two other grants management systems recently merged: Foundant and SmartSimple. I wonder who will be next?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the slow adoption of AI within grantmaking organizations. If you’re a TAG member, here’s an upcoming webinar exploring the challenges and opportunities of integrating AI into your philanthropic operations.

Here is a super interesting article from Candid about foundations’ perspectives on AI-generated grant proposals. Spoiler: 67% of survey respondents are undecided about whether they will accept them.
