5-Bullet Friday

The latest from author and investor Tim Ferriss

Hi All!

Here is your weekly dose of 5-Bullet Friday, a list of what I’m pondering and exploring.

This edition is brought to you by Momentous high-quality supplements. Be sure to see their offer in the P.S. For some of my favorite highlights from the podcast in 2023, see the P.P.S.

Podcast episode I’m very excited to publish

A Glimpse of the Future: Electroceuticals for 70%–90% Remission of Depression, Brain Stimulation for Sports Performance, and De-risking Ibogaine for TBI/PTSD. I believe this podcast episode is a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next five years. Pair it with Nolan’s latest groundbreaking study, which was published this morning in Nature Medicine: “Magnesium–ibogaine therapy in veterans with traumatic brain injuries.”

Short Instagram post I’m reading multiple times

“A message for the New Year” from Brandon Stanton, creator of Humans of New York. This relates to something he and I have texted about often: attention. How should you think about protecting your own attention in 2024? If you don’t have attention, the time you have and the money you make don’t matter much. Attention is the mother resource.

Documentary I’m watching

Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop. If you want to see the real Conan, the indefatigable master comic with a penchant for punching people, this is for you. It’s also a portrait of someone in transition. In this case, after Conan’s split with NBC, he was legally prohibited from entertaining on television for one year. So what do you do when your identity is taken from you? Or more broadly, how does someone at the top of their game reinvent themselves for a year? From the official description: “After a much-publicized departure from hosting NBC’s ‘Tonight Show,’ Conan O’Brien hit the road with a 32-city music-and-comedy show. Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop is an intimate portrait of an artist trained in improvisation, captured at the most improvisational time of his career.” Watch the trailer here. Hat tip to Chris Beresford-Hill for the recommendation!

Launch I’m celebrating

The Tim Ferriss Experiment TV show! I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be releasing all episodes of my TV show, The Tim Ferriss Experiment, on YouTube—for free. It was a maze to secure the rights, but now it’s done.

Click here for episode #1! The show is like MythBusters meets Jason Bourne. In every episode, I partner with the world’s best and most unorthodox teachers (e.g., Laird Hamilton, Marcelo Garcia, Stewart Copeland), who train me for a final gauntlet. Shocking breakthroughs, injuries, epiphanies, and disasters are all part of the journey. Along the way, I show you how to replicate results in an attempt to prove that “you don’t need to be superhuman to get superhuman results… you just need a better toolkit.” Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel to get notified of all upcoming episodes, and I’ll be releasing one per week for the next 13 weeks or so. Enjoy!

Quote I’m pondering

“The future is already here—it’s just not evenly distributed.”
— William Gibson

You can complement this edition of 5-Bullet Friday with my interview with Humans of New York creator Brandon Stanton, my conversation with Dr. Adam Gazzaley on brain optimization, and my short letter to a friend who wants to get in shape and is looking for a rapid reboot.

And, as always, please give me feedback on Twitter. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @tferriss and put #5BulletFriday at the end so I can find it.

Have a wonderful weekend, all.

Much love to you and yours,

Tim

P.S. Deal of the Week — Momentous high-quality supplements!

Momentous offers high-quality supplements and products across a broad spectrum of categories, and I’ve been testing their products for months now. I’ve been using their magnesium threonate, apigenin, and L-theanine daily, all of which have helped me improve the onset, quality, and duration of my sleep. Momentous Sleep conveniently delivers all three in one single blend to help prime your body for sleep and help you build a powerful nighttime routine. I’ve also been using Momentous Creatine, and while it certainly helps physical performance, including poundage or wattage in sports, I use it primarily for mental performance (short-term memory, etc.)

Their products are third-party tested (Informed-Sport and/or NSF-certified), so you can trust that what is on the label is in the bottle and nothing else. No matter what your fitness goals are, or what you want to achieve this year, Momentous is on a relentless quest to help you get there. Click here to start your new year with 20% off all products, including my personal favorites, Sleep and Creatine. And not to worry, my non-US friends, Momentous ships internationally and has you covered.

P.P.S.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to The Tim Ferriss Show, which will hit its 10th anniversary soon. Here are some of my favorite TFS moments from 2023. I’m using them, and I believe you can use them, as launching points to become healthier, wealthier, and wiser in 2024. I’ve thrown in a few laughs, too, as those are perhaps most important of all.

The clips cover a wide range of topics—the very tactical and practical (exercise routines, optimizing to-do lists, building habits, goal setting), life-transforming decisions and big-picture moves (rites of passage, personal reinvention), and much more.

2024 is going to be very big! Secret plans are already in the works…
