A down day for the newsletter

Welcome to The Logoff: Hi readers, today we are logging off for our last edition of 2025. We’re deep into the end-of-the-year lull, and even news out of the Trump administration is slowing down. We’ll be diving headfirst into a new year in just a few days, but in the meantime, I hope you can enjoy a few more moments of calm with friends and family.

Once things do get going again, the Logoff will be here to tell you what you need to know and keep on reminding you to log off. Until then, have a great holiday and a great New Year’s — we’ll see you right back here on Friday.

And with that, it's time to log off...

My colleagues did so much good work in 2025, and I had the privilege of rounding up some of it for the Vox site here. Plus, from the Vox archives: What does “Auld Lang Syne” actually mean, and how did it become a New Year’s Eve classic?
