A few months ago, we came across a Stanford study that analyzed over 50,000 engineers and found that 14% are “ghost engineers”—contributors who aren’t actively engaged in the codebase. At first, we didn’t pay much attention to it.

That changed when a customer told us they discovered this percentage to be over 20% in their own company. Then, another customer revealed they had engineers with no activity for months. That’s when we realized this wasn’t just a statistic—it was a real problem.

So, we listened to the feedback and built a new Waydev feature: Ghost Engineers. This feature helps you identify contributors with no Commits, PRs, or Tickets over a selected period.

Hopefully, your percentage is 0%, and you won’t need this feature—but if you do, it’s here to help!
